Interest in agroforestry is on the rise across the UK farming and forestry sectors, yet for many there is still uncertainty as to how to put this concept into practice.

Amidst this uncertainty agroforestry presents a huge opportunity for innovation between those who produce food and those who work with trees. Now is the time to break down the historic division between these sectors to work together towards a common purpose of landscape regeneration and sustainable food, fuel and fibre production!

Much more than a trade show, this two-day gathering will inspire land stewards to collaborate and engage with agroforestry through:

  • Knowledge exchange workshops and inspiring talks
  • Farmer and forester-led discussions
  • Agroforestry field walks
  • Live equipment demonstrations
  • Exhibitions and market stalls

Join us at The Agroforestry Show to build and celebrate the UK’s agroforestry movement!

It’s a great opportunity for other farmers, campaigners, politicians, environmentalists and anyone else interested to have a look at agroforestry in action!

In 2021, we had 6 farms participating; in 2022, it was 10. We now have over 35 – across the UK, Ireland and beyond – signed up for 2023, with more coming forward all the time.

Each of those farms will be open and welcoming visitors for some part of the period 19-21 May – most will require advance booking. Information about all that will be on this website – each farm will have a page of information.

At the moment we are sorting out the web pages with information about all those different farms and putting them on the map – as below. We should have that done shortly. Please look back then to see where you can see agroforestry in 2023.

Meanwhile, anyone with an area of agroforestry planting who would like to join in – see the information here about what’s involved.

Every year, the Center for Agroforestry at the University of Missouri (UMCA) hosts a public Symposium to grow connections and raise awareness about important work happening in our field. This year’s Symposium, “Demystifying Perennial Crop Improvement and Integration,” will celebrate collaboration and encourage knowledge exchange between the science and research community, farmers, producers and landowners, and the general public.

In partnership with the New Roots for Restoration Biological Integration Institute, UMCA is hosting an interdisciplinary slate of presenters from around the country with expertise and important insights on perennial crop breeding, genetic characterization, scaling, and integration.

The 2023 Symposium will be held virtually via Zoom on January 18, 2023 with additional online engagement opportunities at www.CenterForAgroforestry.org, including discussion forums and poster presentations. The 8th World Forest Week (WFW2022) will feature a series of inspiring events bringing FAO Member States, a range of partner organizations, leaders, science and youth to discuss a broad range of topics at the margins of the 26th Session of the Committee on Forestry (COFO26).

As in previous years, the World Forest Week will provide participants and partner organizations with a unique opportunity to exchange, connect, showcase best practices and actions on the ground, and to contribute from the forest community to the global international debate on forestry and environmental issues. Events organized during the World Forest Week will be virtual and hybrid, organized/co-sponsored by Members, partner organizations (including the Collaborative Partnership on Forests) and FAO.

WFW2022 is structured around the priority areas outlined in the FAO Strategic Framework 2022-2031 with its vision of a sustainable and food secure world for all, in the context of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development. FAO seeks transformation to more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind.
