#QPR January Transfer Targets: ‘R’ Scouting Report

‘R’ Generation’s Tom Ward (@WardTom7) compiles his ideal transfer targets for the all important 2022 January transfer window

Target 1 – Harrison Ashby

Club: West Ham United

Age: 20

Position: Right Back

Profile

Ashby is a promising young fullback coming through at West Ham. His game is based a lot off his energy and on ball ability, and he would provide excellent cover for Adomah and Odubajo. He’s also versatile so could fill in on the left side if required. A loan move would be welcomed by West Ham and he could provide that added bit of quality that unfortunately Kakay lacks.

Target 2 – Dan Barlaser

Club: Rotherham

Age: 24

Position: Centre Mid

Profile

Although Barlaser may command a fee of upwards of a million pounds, I think that he would be a perfect fit in the middle of this QPR side. With Amos, Field and Ball all posessing a similar style of hard work, tackling and keeping it simple, the responsibility to create can sometimes lie too heavily with Johansen, and Barlaser would provide added quality on the ball, whilst also being able to provide the dirty work the other 3 provide. Andre Dozzell has been impressive so far this year as well, but two very left footed players in the midfield can upset the balance, and therefore adding Rotherham’s best player would really bolster the position.

Target 3 – Jacob Greaves

Club: Hull City

Age: 21

Position: Centre Back

Profile

A wildcard selection. Greaves has been a gem in an otherwise below par Hull City defence this season. He suits our style with good composure on the ball, and has shown good decision making too. Pace is not his strongest suit but he could prove to be a top level defender in years to come and getting him this January for a smallish fee would be a risk worth taking.

Target 4 – Jake Cooper

Club: Millwall

Age: 26

Position: Centre Back

Profile

This one would really show ambition, and could end up costing a fairly decent amount fee wise, however Cooper has been long thought of as one of the Champs best centre halves, and his no nonsense style would prove very compatible with Dunne, Dickie and Barbet. He would also add to our depth in a position that, due to De Wijs’ constant injuries, is light. The speculation surrounding Rob Dickie’s future is the main reason why I have targeted Cooper, as if he is sold I see Cooper as a good replacement.

Target 5 – Callum Brittain

Club: Barnsley

Age: 23

Position: Right Back

Profile

Last season Brittain looked like one of the champs’ best fullbacks, however, fast forward to this year and there are very few EFL pundits and fans talking about him. His performances haven’t changed, he still flies up and down the right side, yet his crosses just haven’t been converted as they were last year. At 23 Brittain would provide good competition now at RWB, and then eventually could progress into first choice at wing back.

Target 6 – Keshi Anderson

Club: Blackpool

Age: 26

Position: Winger/Attacking Midfielder

Profile

Keshi has been the Tangerines standout player so far this season, so signing him would be a challenge and a massive coup. But it is a signing that I believe would really give us that depth in the attacking areas currently occupied by Willock and Chair. Both have been our standout players this year, and adding Anderson would help fill the void left when one can’t play. He would also provide some more quality and chance creation, something that at times can be lacking in our game!
